Dan Brooke Named Chair of ParalympicsGB
Following an extensive recruitment process, Dan Brooke has been appointed as the new Chair of ParalympicsGB, bringing with him a wealth of experience and an unwavering commitment to the Paralympic movement.
A seasoned media executive, Dan served as Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer and a Board member at Channel 4, overseeing the broadcaster’s partnership with the Paralympic Games through four Summer and Winter editions—including the landmark London 2012 Games, where he played a pivotal role in reshaping public perception of disability sport.
His deep ties to the Paralympic movement extend beyond broadcasting. He was a member of ParalympicsGB’s Social Impact Committee and contributed to the International Paralympic Committee’s Global Brand Advisory Group, championing disability inclusion on a global scale.
Dan’s career spans leadership roles across the media landscape, including Managing Director of Discovery Channels UK and Channel 4’s digital channels, where he helped launch Film4 and E4.
Reflecting on his appointment, Dan said:
“My lifelong love affair with Paralympic Sport was sparked by London 2012 and has grown into a deep mission for disability inclusion. I am honoured to renew my vows with this precious movement and cannot wait to support ParalympicsGB as they take on the world at Milano Cortina 2026 and Los Angeles 2028—while also driving meaningful change for people with disabilities.”
Dan steps into the role following Professor Nick Webborn CBE, who has served as Chair since 2017, completing the maximum eight-year tenure.
Nick reflected on his time at the helm:
“It has been an honour and privilege to lead ParalympicsGB for the past eight years. From witnessing outstanding athletic performances to establishing a strong social impact strategy and fostering a new athlete community, there is so much to be proud of. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the athletes, staff, board, and wider membership for their unwavering support.”
Dan’s legacy at Channel 4 includes spearheading two globally acclaimed Paralympic marketing campaigns, solidifying the UK broadcaster as a leader in Paralympic storytelling. Sir Philip Craven, former President of the IPC, praised Dan’s appointment:
“Dan and his team brought an extraordinary passion and innovation to the London 2012 Paralympics. His drive for Para sports and Para athletes makes him a fantastic successor to Nick. He has big shoes to fill, but I have no doubt he will continue to push the Paralympic movement forward in the UK.”
Beyond broadcasting, Dan has been a UK Government Media Sector Champion for disability employment, served on the Advisory Board for One Young World 2019, and was awarded a Fellowship by the Royal Television Society. He is also the Non-Executive Chair of the British Independent Film Awards, a role he will step down from in May after completing two terms.
Currently the CEO of Smart Energy GB, Dan now embarks on this new chapter, bringing his expertise, passion, and vision to ParalympicsGB as they prepare for the next era of competition and impact.
