CO-FOUNDER - BRAND DIRECTOR

Role Overview

Disability Sports Channel (DSC) is seeking a Head of Brand to lead the development and execution of a comprehensive brand strategy. This equity-based position is ideal for someone passionate about disability sports, inclusion, and the power of digital media to promote positive change. As Head of Brand, you will work closely with the CEO, News Director, Media Director, and other key stakeholders to build and maintain DSC’s brand identity, secure strategic partnerships, and drive social media engagement.

Location: United Kingdom (Remote working available)

Employment Type: Equity-based role

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Collaborates With: News Director, Media Director, Social Media Marketing Team

Key Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for developing and implementing DSC’s brand strategy to ensure it aligns with our mission and values. This will include defining brand messaging, overseeing media relations, and driving social media engagement. You'll also take the lead in building relationships with sponsors, advertisers, and disability-focused organisations to secure new partnerships. Additionally, you’ll manage commercial opportunities, including sponsorships and branded content, while staying current with digital trends to maximise DSC’s visibility across social media.

Key Skills & Experience

> At least 5 years in brand management, communications, or partnership development, ideally within the sports, media, or non-profit sectors.

> Strong knowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing strategies, with proven experience creating and executing social media campaigns

> Experience securing sponsorships and partnerships, with a strong ability to negotiate and close deals.

> Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and HubSpot.

> A deep commitment to advocating for disability sports and promoting diversity and inclusion.

CO-FOUNDER - SPORTS NEWS DIRECTOR

Role Description

We are seeking a Co-Founder (Head of Sports News) to spearhead editorial direction, social-first storytelling, and compelling news stories across disability sports at Disability Sports Channel. Reporting to the CEO and Brand Director, this pivotal role involves leading our editorial team to deliver impactful content that resonates with diverse audiences worldwide. The role will be responsible for the growth of the Channel. This role is unpaid, in exchange for 15% equity in Disability Sports Channel. 

Hours – 35 hours. 

Reporting – Weekly to the founding director, brand director and broadcasting director. 

Contract – Full time

Main Responsibilities

> Develop and implement content strategies to engage and inform audiences across digital platforms.

> Lead the DSC freelance editorial team in crafting and executing comprehensive news coverage and storytelling initiatives focused on disability sports.

> Drive innovation in storytelling techniques to highlight achievements and challenges within disability sports.

> Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure content aligns with DSC’s mission and values.

> Uphold journalistic integrity and editorial standards while maintaining a tone that resonates with our audience.

> Monitor industry trends and audience feedback to continuously optimise content strategy and delivery.

> Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages creativity and professional growth.

> Proven experience in a senior editorial role within sports journalism or related fields.

> Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and mentor a team.

> Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

> Deep understanding of the digital media landscape, including social media platforms and content creation and distribution strategies.

> Passion for disability sports and promoting inclusivity through media.

> Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed to cover live events and breaking news.
