IPC President Pays Tribute to Norbert Kucera Following His Passing
International Paralympic Committee (IPC) President Andrew Parsons has honoured the memory of Norbert Kucera, Secretary General of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF), following his passing after a brief illness.
A lifelong advocate for wheelchair basketball, Norbert played a pivotal role in shaping the sport through his expertise, leadership, and dedication. His international journey began as a referee in 1987, leading to his first Paralympic officiating role at the Seoul 1988 Games. Over the years, he served as Chairman of the World Technical Commission before assuming the position of IWBF Secretary General in 2018.
Norbert was instrumental in the development and governance of wheelchair basketball, ensuring its continued growth and impact worldwide. His tireless efforts to promote inclusion and fair competition left a lasting mark on the sport and the Paralympic Movement.
